The Love Note

The Love Note - By Joanna Davidson Politano

I have found very few authors who are able to create stories that completely captivate me.  Joanna Davidson Politano has done it again with this one.  This historical novel is filled with layers of delightful mystery and romance with amazingly deep characters.  I was not expecting such a beautiful story, but I found that once I began I could not put the story down.  An intriguing story line will have you asking "who could it be?", not just once, but multiple times.

Willa Duvall, the daughter of a physician, has her heart set on a career in medicine even though women are not being admitted into medical schools in the late 1800's.  While sitting at her writing desk she finds a love letter that has never been opened.  Curiosity gets the best of her and she reads it, a beautiful and passionate letter that she feels needs to be delivered to its rightful owner.

She ends up at Crestwicke Manor, a place she frequented as a child, but hasn't returned to in years.  Mystery and intrigue follow as Willa misplaces the letter and it gets into the hands of different people at the manor.  The letter touches each person that reads it, some in different ways.  Who wrote the letter?  Who was it intended for?

One of the greatest parts of this book is the way that Politano weaves a beautiful romance with mystery while not shying away from having her characters reach out to God for help and guidance.  Once again fabulous lead characters and exceptional supporting characters show how one love letters can affect many hearts.   A delightful book that is worth reading more than once and needs to be added to your bookshelf!  I give The Love Note 5 stars!
